Serial Conman Arrested in Hyderabad After Masquerading as TDP MP’s Son to Defraud Hostel Owner
His detention prompted a probe into at least 13 prior fraud charges spanning Telangana, Andhra Pradesh.
Overview
- The accused, identified as 29-year-old Vajila Venkateshwarlu alias Dr. Vikranth Reddy, was taken into custody near the JNTU traffic signal on August 4, 2025.
- He ingratiated himself with the proprietor of Sitara Women’s PG Hostel by dining there under the guise of assisting relatives with accommodation on four separate visits.
- Claiming ownership of a Jubilee Hills jewellery shop, he persuaded the owner to hand over a four-tola gold chain for remodelling and to advance ₹55,000 online plus ₹45,000 in cash.
- The suspect became unreachable shortly after collecting the valuables, prompting the hostel owner to file a complaint that led KPHB police to his arrest.
- Law enforcement has linked him to offences including theft, extortion, cheating and sexual assault across multiple districts and continues its investigation.
