Serial Child Rapist Arrested for Assault and Murder of 11-Year-Old in Madhya Pradesh

Ramesh Khati, a 41-year-old repeat offender, was arrested for the brutal rape and murder of an 11-year-old deaf and mute girl in Madhya Pradesh's Rajgarh district.
Khati has a history of crimes against minors, including a 2003 conviction for raping a 5-year-old and a 2014 case where he was sentenced to death, though the verdict was later overturned by the High Court.
The victim was abducted from her home on February 1, assaulted, and left in a forested area; she succumbed to her injuries on February 8 at a hospital in Bhopal.
Police utilized extensive surveillance, reviewing footage from 136 cameras and analyzing hundreds of mobile records, to track Khati across multiple states before apprehending him on a train to Jaipur.
Authorities have formed a Special Investigation Team to ensure robust evidence collection and are conducting DNA profiling to link Khati to other potential unsolved cases.
