Overview
- On Saturday, September 5, 2026, authorities arrested Sergio Urribarri at his home in Concordia and transferred him to a provincial penitentiary to begin an eight-year sentence for peculado and negotiation incompatible.
- The Corte Suprema declared the defendants’ extraordinary appeals inadmissible under Article 280 in a decision signed by Justices Rosatti, Rosenkrantz and Lorenzetti, closing the last high-court remedy without ruling on the merits.
- Co-defendants Juan Pablo Aguilera and Pedro Ángel Báez were also detained to start serving their sentences and the judgments include disqualification from holding public office.
