Overview
- A string of unrelated crashes on Monday and Tuesday left several people dead and many injured in cities and on major expressways, with incidents reported in Delhi, Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
- Etawah divisional forest officer Vikas Nayak and his driver died after a Scorpio reportedly breached the central divider and collided head‑on with their SUV on the Agra–Lucknow Expressway, and three other occupants were hospitalized.
- Two separate cars struck the central median and plunged into a 30–40 foot gorge on the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway in Ratlam district, killing at least four people and injuring others after the first crash damaged the railing and a second vehicle later hit the weakened barrier.
- City and highway crashes included a BMC worker killed in Khar West after a car identified as driven by ex‑MP Sudhir Sawant was booked, a car hitting a stationary truck near Badarpur killing one and leading to the truck’s seizure, and a Vasant Kunj truck driver arrested after two riders were run over and killed.
