Separate Police Actions in Mallorca and Murcia Lead to Cannabis Seizures and Arrests

Police say the separate detentions reflect routine patrols uncovering alleged cannabis trafficking.

Overview

  • In Colònia de Sant Jordi (Campos), a Guardia Civil patrol responding to a car that ran out of fuel detected a strong smell of marijuana and found five large plants inside the vehicle.
  • The driver, a 35-year-old Spaniard, was arrested at midday Tuesday on suspicion of a drug trafficking offense after the officers seized the plants.
  • In Murcia’s pedanía of La Raya, Policía Nacional units on prevention duty intercepted a man who tried to hide near a football field and found a large transparent bag of green plant material.
  • Officers reported the bag contained about 1.4 kilograms of dried marijuana buds prepared for sale, along with more than €1,000 in cash, a bank card, and withdrawal receipts.
  • Both detainees are accused of offenses against public health, the seized material was confiscated, and the Murcia suspect was placed at the disposal of judicial authorities.
