SEP to Convert 35 Secondary Schools Into Evening Bachilleratos, Adding 10,500 Seats in 2025

A 760 million peso push advances the Bachillerato Nacional expansion targeting 120,000 new upper‑secondary places this sexenio.

  • Education Secretary Mario Delgado announced the rollout during a supervision tour in Ciudad Juárez, where projects total 110.9 million pesos to benefit 1,075 students.
  • The new CBTIS No. 291 in Parajes de San José II is being built with 67.5 million pesos to serve 475 students with 12 classrooms, three workshops, a computer lab and a covered multifunction court.
  • Secundaria Federal No. 20 and Secundaria Estatal 3061 in Ciudad Juárez are being adapted to operate as evening bachilleratos with upgraded labs, specialty workshops, administrative areas and covered courts under a 43.4 million peso package for 600 youths.
  • The reconversion tranche is part of the Bachillerato Nacional within the Nueva Escuela Mexicana, which implements a common curriculum with dual certification.
  • SEP is coordinating with Chihuahua authorities on establishing a Universidad Rosario Castellanos campus in the state, evaluating whether to build new facilities or adapt an existing site.
