Overview
- The process covers more than 270,000 applicants in the Mexico City metropolitan area, and SEP says no student will be left without a school.
- The “Mi derecho, Mi lugar” model replaces the single-exam system used for nearly three decades by assigning places based on student preferences and available capacity across federal, Mexico City and State of Mexico schools.
- UNAM and IPN retained their own entrance exams, and SEP reports fewer unassigned applicants at those institutions due to diversified choices.
- For the 2025–26 cycle, authorities enabled more than 37,000 additional seats and introduced programs such as digital animation, urbanism, e-commerce, nanotechnology and business intelligence.
- An extemporaneous registration window is scheduled for August 21–28 for those who missed the February call or did not obtain a place at UNAM or IPN.
