Overview

• The SEP’s 2025–26 school year will run from September 1, 2025, to July 15, 2026, with 185 instructional days for preschool through secondary and 190 days for teacher-training institutions.
• Teachers receive an extra week of vacation and eight Consejo Técnico Escolar sessions plus intensive January workshops to reinforce planning time and support under President Sheinbaum’s initiative.
• Under the Nueva Escuela Mexicana, the SEP published a standardized basic supplies list covering essential materials for all grade levels while preserving teachers’ freedom to request additional items.
• The SEP’s core supplies list is estimated at 861.48 pesos, plus 813.85 pesos for a backpack and lunchbox, even as Profeco and Inegi project back-to-school spending of 1,500 to 2,400 pesos per child.
• Free textbooks will be delivered in both physical and digital formats, and the SEP has expanded digital services with online report cards and electronic certificates to streamline academic processes.
