SEP Confirms Sept. 15 Is a School Day as Only Sept. 16 Is a Holiday

Mexico’s Education Ministry stated there will be no megapuente for Independence Day, so basic-education students must attend classes on Monday, September 15. Tuesday, September 16, is the sole official day off for the holiday under the current national school calendar, which can only change through an official notice. Schools may hold civic ceremonies or modify schedules on September 15, so parents are advised to monitor messages from their campus. The Estado de México’s 2025–26 calendar aligns with the national guidance by treating September 15 as a working day and it also outlines local CTE sessions, vacation periods and SAID pre-enrollment windows. Teaching and administrative staff follow the calendar issued by SEP or their corresponding education authority, according to their assignment.
