Señor de los Milagros to Make Final Lima Procession on Sunday

Authorities will use progressive street closures and major transit reroutes to manage crowds during the final recorrido.

Overview

  • Iquitos will hold its local closing procession on Saturday, October 31 with a 3:00 p.m. departure from the Iglesia Matriz and a large Mass at 7:00 p.m. in Estadio Max Augustin, the vicariate confirmed.
  • Lima’s fifth and final recorrido is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 1 from the Santuario de Las Nazarenas and will follow avenida Tacna, jirón Callao, jirón Chancay and avenida Emancipación before returning to the sanctuary.
  • The Autoridad de Transporte Urbano and the Policía Nacional announced progressive closures of avenues and streets along the route to move the procession safely as the image advances.
  • Metropolitano services will be altered for the procession with regular A rerouted via avenida Alfonso Ugarte to a single stop at Quilca, regular C shortened to Estación Central, and the Castilla, Tacna, Jirón de la Unión and Colmena stations closed.
  • Corredor Azul, Corredor Morado and conventional bus lines will use temporary paraderos and detours through central Lima, and church organizers say staging Mass in Iquitos’s stadium improves access for older people, pregnant women and those with disabilities.
