Overview

  • Prince George’s County Fire/EMS technical rescue units arrived at Six Flags America at 3:25 p.m. on August 16 to assist in evacuating the 32 guests who were stranded for more than an hour.
  • A Six Flags spokesperson said emergency sensors triggered an automatic stop and that trained park staff completed the unloading without outside assistance.
  • No guests sustained injuries and earlier reports of a ride-related hospital transport were clarified as unrelated to the evacuation.
  • Six Flags has closed the ride and will conduct a thorough inspection and safety review to determine what caused the stoppage.
  • The incident comes as the company prepares to market the Bowie property for redevelopment ahead of its scheduled November 2 closure.
