Overview
- The Sensex fell 345.91 points, or 0.41%, to 84,695.54 after touching an intraday low of 84,637.86.
- The Nifty declined 100.20 points, or 0.38%, to 25,942.10, marking a third straight loss.
- Selling concentrated in oil & gas and IT, with Adani Ports, HCL Tech, Power Grid, Trent, Bharat Electronics and Bharti Airtel among top losers, while Tata Steel, Asian Paints, Hindustan Unilever and Eternal gained.
- Exchange data showed FIIs were net sellers of Rs 317.56 crore on Friday, while DIIs were net buyers of Rs 1,772.56 crore.
- Global cues were mixed and Brent crude rose 1.7% to $61.67 a barrel, adding to caution.
