Senior Russian Officials Grant Children’s New Year Wishes in Nationwide ‘Wish Tree’ Push

The annual campaign, run since 2018 by the Dream With Me project, says it has fulfilled more than 320,000 wishes across the country.

  • On January 8–9, ministers and vice premiers led in-person and virtual events to deliver tailored experiences and gifts to children in difficult circumstances.
  • Finance minister Anton Siluanov toured Moscow’s Izmailovo metro depot with a 9-year-old, who rode in the driver’s cab to Ploshchad Revolyutsii.
  • Other fulfilled wishes included TV studio hosting in St. Petersburg with Deputy PM Alexei Overchuk, a cruiser Aurora visit arranged by First Deputy PM Denis Manturov, and a paleontology day with Minister Valery Falkov and Russian Academy of Sciences experts.
  • Justice minister Konstantin Chuychenko provided a DJ controller to a teen in St. Petersburg and a video camera to a 14-year-old in Kazan, while Emergencies minister Alexander Kurenkov delivered a boxing mannequin to a 15-year-old in Udmurtia.
  • Additional grants ranged from an organ concert outing organized by Deputy PM Alexander Novak to a chess set and museum visit from energy minister Sergei Tsivilev, a telescope for a boy from Luhansk from minister Alexei Chekunkov, an amber plant tour with industry minister Anton Alikhanov, and a Ulyanovsk “day as governor” arranged with Deputy PM Dmitry Chernyshenko.
