Senior Met Police Officer Charged with Attempted Rape and Sexual Assault

Superintendent Jamie Gordon, suspended since January, is set to appear in court over allegations involving incidents from December 2023.

Superintendent Jamie Gordon, a senior officer in the Metropolitan Police, has been charged with attempted rape and sexual assault of a woman in two separate incidents on December 8 and December 19, 2023.
The alleged offences occurred while Gordon was off duty and were reported by the same woman.
Gordon was arrested on January 19, 2024, and has been suspended from his role in the South East Command Unit, which oversees the London boroughs of Bexley, Greenwich, and Lewisham.
The charges were filed on November 4, 2024, but were not publicly disclosed until December 3, ahead of his scheduled court appearance on December 4 at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
This case follows a series of scandals involving sexual misconduct within the Met Police, prompting significant reforms and disciplinary actions, including the dismissal of over 100 officers for gross misconduct.
