Senior Chennai Police Officer Suspended Over Sexual Harassment Allegations

- D. Magesh Kumar, a Deputy Inspector General (DIG)-rank officer and Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic, North) in Chennai, has been suspended following sexual harassment allegations by two female constables.
- The complaints were filed with Tamil Nadu's Director General of Police, Shankar Jiwal, and referred to an Internal Complaints Committee headed by senior officer Seema Agarwal for investigation.
- This is the second sexual harassment complaint filed against Kumar in the past month, with the first reported in January 2025 by another constable under his supervision.
- The Tamil Nadu Home Department confirmed that criminal proceedings will be initiated against Kumar, and his suspension follows preliminary findings by the Internal Complaints Committee.
- Kumar is the third senior police officer in Tamil Nadu to face sexual harassment allegations in recent years, highlighting ongoing concerns about misconduct within the force.
