Senior Andhra IPS Officer Suspended Over Alleged ₹1 Crore Fund Misuse

N. Sanjay, a senior IPS officer in Andhra Pradesh, has been suspended following allegations of embezzling ₹1 crore in government funds.
The suspension is based on a Vigilance and Enforcement report accusing Sanjay of colluding with a private firm to make excess payments for incomplete work.
Sanjay allegedly authorized ₹1.19 crore in payments for a project where only 14% of the work was completed, with further irregularities in tender processes identified.
The officer has been restricted to Vijayawada and prohibited from leaving without government approval during the ongoing inquiry.
Sanjay was previously CID chief during the arrest of TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu in 2023 under the YSR Congress government, raising political sensitivities around the case.
