Overview

  • Ottawa announced two-way contracts for defenseman Cameron Crotty (two years) and winger Jan Jeník (one year) on Aug. 25.
  • Per local reporting, Jeník’s deal pays $775,000 in the NHL and $285,000 in the AHL this season, while Crotty’s pays $775,000 NHL/$200,000 AHL in 2025–26 and $850,000 NHL/$300,000 AHL in 2026–27.
  • Both players are positioned as depth and potential call-up options entering camp.
  • Crotty, an Ottawa native and right shot who captained AHL Iowa last season, has two NHL games and previously qualified for Group VI unrestricted free agency.
  • Jeník played two games for Ottawa last season and has 24 NHL appearances (4-2–6), and he could reach Group VI status next summer if he remains under 80 career NHL games; the right side also features Artem Zub, Jordan Spence and Nikolas Matinpalo, with Nick Jensen expected to miss the start of the season after hip surgery.
