Overview
- Ullmark was slowed by a crease collision with Boston’s J.J. Peterka and left Monday’s game after making 10 saves.
- Coach Travis Green described Ullmark’s condition as a tweak and listed him day-to-day, so the team scratched him for the Red Wings game.
- Samuel Ersson, who relieved Ullmark in Boston and stopped eight of nine shots, will make his first start for the Senators in Detroit.
- The Senators recalled Jonas Johansson from AHL Belleville to serve as Ersson’s backup and sent defenseman Jorian Donovan back to Belleville because Ullmark remained on the active roster.
- The move tests Ottawa’s early-season goaltending depth and could affect short-term performance during the travel-heavy back-to-back stretch given other absences on the roster.
