Senator Kevin Cramer's Son Charged with Manslaughter in Fatal Crash

Ian Cramer faces multiple charges following a high-speed chase that resulted in the death of a North Dakota sheriff’s deputy.

Ian Cramer, son of U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer, has been charged with manslaughter, fleeing a police officer, and reckless endangerment following a high-speed chase that resulted in the death of Mercer County Sheriff’s Deputy Paul Martin.
Prior to the incident, Ian Cramer's mother had taken him to a hospital due to concerns about his mental health. He fled the hospital in the family's vehicle, leading to the police pursuit.
Additional drug-related charges are expected to be filed against Ian Cramer for possession of methamphetamine, cocaine, and drug paraphernalia.
This is not Ian Cramer's first encounter with the law. He has a history of traffic violations and was previously charged with misdemeanor simple assault in 2013.
Deputy Paul Martin, an 18-year veteran of the sheriff’s office and a married father of three, was pronounced dead at a hospital following the crash.
