Menendez Continues to Attend Classified Briefings Despite Fetterman’s Proposition to Bar Indicted Senators' Access, Leading to Intense Criticism and Renewed Calls for Voluntary Resignation

Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman proposed a resolution to strip New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez of his committee assignments and bar his access to classified information following charges of bribery and acting as a foreign agent for Egypt.
Despite facing these allegations, Menendez continues to attend classified briefings, triggering criticism and calls for his voluntary resignation.
The resolution, which does not directly name Menendez, targets senators facing charges which compromise national security and would remove their access to confidential briefings and public funds for foreign trips and their committee memberships.
Menendez, former chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, alleges that he's targeted by a smear campaign and states, 'An accusation is just an accusation. It's not proof of anything.'
Fetterman has been the first Democratic senator calling for Menendez's resignation, urging the Senate to take measures to protect national security and its institutional integrity.
