Senamhi Issues 59-Hour Orange Alert for Coastal Winds Oct. 4–6

The notice details sector wind speeds with risks such as blowing dust, reduced visibility and dawn mist along the coast.

  • Advisory No. 348 is active for Oct. 4–6, warning of moderate to strong winds along Peru’s coast under an orange alert.
  • Forecast speeds vary by sector at roughly 22–38 km/h, with Ica projected to see the strongest bursts near the upper range on Sunday.
  • The alert covers Lima as well as Áncash, Arequipa, Callao, Ica, La Libertad, Lambayeque, Moquegua, Piura and Tumbes.
  • Senamhi cautions that gusts may lift dust and sand, reduce horizontal visibility and bring light drizzle, fog and mist during early hours.
  • Separately, October marks a shift to warmer, sunnier days in Lima with highs near 24 °C and lows around 14 °C, warmer in eastern districts and milder along the coast.
