Overview
- Gardaí stopped a vehicle and recovered a bag containing Semtex and a detonator on 22 July, which they described as an explosive device of serious significance.
- Two people have been charged with possession of explosives in the case: 25-year-old law student Isobella Perrie Sullivan and 44-year-old museum employee Simon O'Donovan.
- Perrie Sullivan was initially granted bail with strict conditions but was remanded in custody on 27 July because the proposed €15,000 surety had not been approved and she is next due before Monaghan District Court on 7 August.
- O'Donovan has been remanded by the Special Criminal Court until 5 October, with the court told he is alleged to have stored the device at Collins Barracks and his earlier High Court bail application was refused.
- Garda investigations and forensic work, including EOD examination and cross-border co-operation, are ongoing and authorities have sought bail conditions to bar contact with named dissident groups as the book of evidence is prepared.
