Semisub Inc. CEO and President Sentenced Over $29 Million Investment Fraud Scheme

A decade-long DOJ probe culminated in prison terms for the executives following the uncovering of millions in diverted investor funds alongside threats to obstruct justice.

Overview

  • Curtiss E. Jackson received a 13-year prison term and Jamey Denise Jackson was sentenced to two years for their roles in the fraud scheme.
  • Prosecutors showed that over more than a decade the couple misled hundreds of investors by claiming the Semisub One prototype was weeks from operation and inventing government and private partnerships.
  • Court records detail how investor funds were diverted to luxury homes in Hawaii and California, a Mercedes-Benz, high-end vacations, psychic readings and marijuana.
  • During the investigation Curtiss Jackson sent a death threat via a video link titled “Death of FBI Informants” and attempted to flee U.S. waters aboard the Semisub One to impede justice.
  • The sentences follow Curtiss Jackson’s May 2024 conviction on securities fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy, mail fraud, witness tampering and obstruction charges and Jamey Denise Jackson’s January 2023 guilty plea for mail and wire fraud conspiracy.
