Overview
- The U.S. East semifinal aired August 17 at 7 p.m. CDT, featuring eight artists and culminating in rapper Blue Malboro’s advancement with his song “Cuando Niño.”
- A jury of Regina Orozco, Mónica Vélez, América Sierra and Fabián Rincón selected Blue Malboro as the first finalist based on his emotive performance.
- Six weekly televised semifinals will continue Sundays through September 21 on public outlets including Canal 22, Canal 11 and IMER, with a highlights recap on September 28 and a grand final at Teatro de la Ciudad Esperanza Iris on October 5.
- Chosen from over 15,000 applicants, the 48 semifinalists receive professional coaching, studio time and national broadcast exposure as part of a binational effort to promote nonviolent narratives.
- The top three finishers will earn recording contracts and production support from national, transnational or independent labels linked to the Consejo Mexicano de la Música.
