Semi Driver Arrested After Deadly Wrong-Way Crash on U.S. 287 Near Fort Collins
Investigators say the semi was traveling north in the southbound lanes, with the reason still unknown.

- Colorado State Patrol identified the driver as David Perez Carillo, 24, of New York, and booked him on vehicular homicide-reckless, vehicular assault-reckless, and driving on the wrong side of a divided highway.
- The collision happened around 4:47 a.m. Saturday at mile marker 355, about a mile south of Ted’s Place, when the semi struck a Toyota Corolla head-on.
- Troopers reported a 21-year-old man riding in the Corolla was killed, and the 20-year-old woman driving was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.
- Both vehicles caught fire after impact, firefighters extricated the Corolla’s driver, and the deceased passenger was trapped in the vehicle.
- U.S. 287 was closed for more than seven hours and reopened at 12:10 p.m., and the CSP Vehicular Crimes Unit is leading the ongoing investigation.
