Seko Fofana Returns to Ligue 1, Signs with Rennes Through 2029

The Ivorian midfielder joins Rennes in a €20 million transfer after an 18-month stint in Saudi Arabia.

Seko Fofana, a 29-year-old Ivorian international with 22 caps, has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with Rennes.
The transfer is valued at approximately €20 million, marking Fofana's return to Ligue 1 after playing for Al Nassr and Al Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia.
Fofana previously captained RC Lens, leading them to their first Champions League qualification in 21 years before moving to Saudi Arabia in 2023.
Rennes, currently 12th in Ligue 1 and four points above the relegation zone, aims to strengthen their midfield with Fofana's experience and leadership.
The move reunites Fofana with Rennes executive president Arnaud Pouille, who worked with him during his time at Lens.
