Sega Named Metacritic’s Top Game Publisher for 2024

Sega becomes the first publisher to secure the top spot three times, overtaking Capcom with critically acclaimed titles like Metaphor: ReFantazio.

Sega achieved the highest ranking in Metacritic's 2024 Game Publisher Rankings, narrowly surpassing Capcom in a close competition.
The publisher's standout titles included Metaphor: ReFantazio, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, all receiving high critical praise.
This marks the third time Sega has claimed the top spot, having previously earned it in 2016 and 2021, making it the first publisher to achieve this milestone.
Capcom slipped to second place despite strong releases like Dragon's Dogma 2 and Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, which also garnered positive reviews.
Other top-ranked publishers included Aksys Games at third, Sony at fourth, and Focus Entertainment at fifth, with Nintendo notably dropping to 22nd.
