Security Forces Kill Four Maoists, Including Three Women, in Balaghat Forest Encounter

Overview

  • On June 14 a joint operation by Hawk Force, CRPF and local police in the Pachama Dadar-Katejhiriya area under Roopjhar police station resulted in the death of one male and three female Maoist cadres.
  • The raid was launched on the basis of intelligence inputs about Maoist movement in the dense Balaghat forests.
  • Security teams seized a grenade launcher, a self-loading rifle (SLR), two .315 bore rifles and other ammunition from the encounter site.
  • The four slain cadres were hardcore members of the GRB division, carried bounties totaling Rs 56 lakh and were implicated in more than 100 criminal cases.
  • Security forces are combing the area to identify the deceased, track any surviving insurgents and thwart a planned annual Maoist area committee meeting.
