Overview
- Security sources said a targeted operation eliminated about 30 Fitna al-Khawarij militants believed to be behind the Orakzai attack that killed senior officers and soldiers.
- ISPR confirmed an Oct 7–8 intelligence-based operation in Orakzai in which 11 personnel, including Lt Col Junaid Tariq and Maj Tayyab Rahat, were martyred and 19 militants were killed.
- In a separate Oct 8 IBO in Daraban, Dera Ismail Khan, Major Sibtain Haider was martyred as security forces killed seven militants and recovered weapons and ammunition.
- Funeral prayers for the martyred officers were held at Chaklala Garrison with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir in attendance, alongside senior civil and military officials.
- Authorities refer to the adversaries as Fitna al-Khawarij, a state term for TTP-linked militants, as security forces continue sanitisation operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
