Overview

• Nearly 100 internally displaced people housed at a relief camp near Sajiwa were stopped 2.5 km from Dolaithabi under precautionary security measures on July 16.
• Security forces imposed the halt to prevent any untoward incident in Dolaithabi, a zone deemed sensitive after ethnic violence erupted in May 2023.
• Joint teams from Manipur Police, the CRPF, Army and Assam Rifles recovered 86 weapons and 974 rounds of ammunition in valley-wide raids on July 15.
• A company of CRPF women personnel has been deployed alongside other units to strengthen security in Imphal East district.
• District administration and senior police officers are engaging in dialogue with local leaders to pave the way for an amicable and secure return of displaced villagers.
