Security Forces Apprehend 23 Insurgents, Seize 69 Weapons and 16 IEDs in Manipur Raids

Overview

  • Joint teams from Manipur Police, the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, BSF, CRPF and ITBP conducted raids across five districts between August 3 and 4.
  • The raids led to the detention of eight militants from four banned outfits and 15 hardcore cadres involved in extortion, kidnapping and firing incidents.
  • Security forces recovered 69 various types of weapons, 16 improvised explosive devices, grenades and other war-like stores including ammunition and radio sets.
  • These operations form part of a broader counter-insurgency campaign under President’s Rule, which has netted hundreds of arrests and over 600 weapons since April.
  • Manipur Police have renewed warnings against fake videos on social media and appealed for verifications through the Central Control Room.
