Security Chiefs Review Plan Michoacán, Lead Uruapan Inspections as Operation Yields Arrests

Federal leaders reinforced coordination in the state through field oversight focused on intelligence-led priorities.

  • Mexico’s Federal Security Cabinet met in Morelia with Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, municipal authorities, legislators and business chambers to assess Operación Paricutín under Plan Michoacán por la Paz y la Justicia.
  • Omar García Harfuch, General Ricardo Trevilla Trejo and Admiral Pedro Raymundo Morales Ángeles conducted supervisory patrols in Uruapan before a meeting with Mayor Grecia Quiroz.
  • Officials reviewed the plan’s axes of intelligence, attention to causes, interinstitutional coordination, regionalization and border hardening to curb crime and extortion and protect economic activity.
  • In the last 24 hours, operations in Gabriel Zamora, Parácuaro, Morelia and Arteaga led to six detentions, seizures of long guns, over 200 rounds, magazines, tactical gear and 5 kilograms of methamphetamine, and the recovery of 398 stolen computers.
  • The federal government said visits will continue to monitor progress, with García Harfuch stating that Michoacán’s security is a national priority.
