Secunderabad Rail Sweep Nets 21.4 Kg Ganja, One Arrested

Investigators say the load was picked up in Visakhapatnam for a handoff in Thane.

  • Secunderabad GRP, RPF and the EAGLE team conducted surprise checks at the railway station and intercepted a courier with marijuana in a trolley suitcase and backpack.
  • Police identified the detainee as P. Shiva, 20, an agricultural labourer from Andhra Pradesh, and said he agreed to transport consignments for Rs 5,000 per trip.
  • Officers said the consignment was collected in Visakhapatnam for delivery in Maharashtra and that similar trips to Mumbai and Kalyan had occurred earlier.
  • Vijay Chandra alias Rolex and Ashish Kumar were named as absconding associates, and a mobile phone and journey ticket were seized along with the narcotics valued at about Rs 10.7 lakh.
