Section III Shut Out of State Swimming Finals as Liverpool Diver Earns Bronze

Liverpool junior June Piorkowski delivered the region’s lone podium with a third-place finish in 1-meter diving.

  • After Friday prelims at the Webster Aquatic Center, no Section III swimmer advanced to the top-10 scoring finals, with athletes set for Class B and Class C consolation races on Saturday.
  • Piorkowski scored 485.15 for third in diving; Manhasset’s Victoria Wang won with 526.30, while Jamesville-DeWitt’s Kayla McQuaid took 11th and Skaneateles’ Phoebe Bedard placed 13th.
  • Class B qualifiers include Marcellus sprinter Vivian Pilon (50 and 100 freestyle), Baldwinsville’s Olivia McManus (100 butterfly), New Hartford’s Subeen Park (100 breaststroke) and Jamesville-DeWitt’s 400 freestyle relay.
  • Class C fields feature Liverpool’s medley relay plus entries such as New Hartford’s Ella McCarthy (200 freestyle), Baldwinsville’s McManus (50 freestyle), Jamesville-DeWitt’s 200 freestyle relay, J-D’s Thearyn Wales (100 backstroke) and Fayetteville-Manlius’ Elise Wratney (100 breaststroke).
  • Section III sent 18 swimmers and six divers to the meet, Saturday’s swimming program begins at 10 a.m., and state events across volleyball, football and cross country continue with NFHS Network live streams and published ticket details.
