Second Superman Film in Development, Featuring Black Superman

James Gunn, co-head of DC Studios, has confirmed that a second Superman film is in development, separate from the upcoming Superman: Legacy.
The second Superman film is being developed by J.J. Abrams and Ta-Nehisi Coates, and will feature a Black Superman, potentially the characters Calvin Ellis or Val-Zod from the DC Comics universe.
The film is still in the early stages of development, with no directors or actors currently attached to the project.
The Abrams and Coates-led project will be part of the DC Elseworlds brand, which features stories that exist outside of the main DC Universe continuity.
Superman: Legacy, which will launch the new DC Universe, is set to premiere on July 11, 2025.
