Overview
- The deceased was identified as 62-year-old Victor Jose Faria, who was found unresponsive in his B module cell Sunday evening.
- A deputy discovered Faria at 5:08 p.m., and jail medical staff, firefighters and an ambulance responded, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
- Faria had been arrested on Jan. 15 on suspicion of trespassing and a felony probation violation.
- The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office and the District Attorney's Office are conducting inquiries, and the medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
