Second Hiker in Two Months Found Dead in Grand Canyon

James Handschy's death marks the 10th fatality in the park this year, with investigations ongoing.

James Handschy, a 65-year-old man from Oracle, Arizona, was found dead on the Bright Angel Trail in the Grand Canyon.
This is the second death on the trail in two months, and the 10th death in the park this year.
Handschy was attempting to hike from the South Rim to the river and back, a total distance of about 18 miles.
Four of the deaths in the park this year have been hiking-related, three of which occurred on the Bright Angel Trail.
The National Park Service and the Coconino County Medical Examiner are investigating Handschy's death.
