• Spencer Thomas, 67, pleaded guilty on Sept. 10 to one count of Hobbs Act robbery, following an earlier guilty plea by Zedekiah Sykes, 58.
• Spirit Hooks, 51, and Clinton Thompson, 55, both of Birmingham, were charged as alleged accomplices and are presumed innocent.
• Court records describe four men forcing entry on March 10, assaulting and zip-tying the owner, brandishing a BB gun, taking about $8,000, and driving off in his vehicle.
• FBI, Montgomery police, ALEA, and the MACS Task Force investigated using surveillance, witness statements, and transactional evidence, with support from the county district attorney’s office.
