Second Death Reported in Lexington South Broadway Shooting

Overview

• Police said Friday a second man died at a hospital from injuries suffered in the New Year’s Day shooting, and a third victim remains in critical condition.
• Officers were dispatched around 6:30 p.m. Jan. 1 to the 300 block of Virginia Avenue and located three men shot in a parking lot in the 1000 block of South Broadway.
• One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, two were transported with life-threatening injuries, and one of those men later died.
• The Fayette County Coroner’s Office will release the victims’ names as the investigation continues.
• Investigators ask residents and businesses to review security footage and share tips with Lexington police or anonymously through Bluegrass Crime Stoppers; Lexington Clinic says it provided video and added security at its office.
