Second Cliffside Rescue Airlifts Hiker from Presidio Trail

  • The hiker fell just before 2 p.m. on the scenic Batteries to Bluffs Trail near Battery Crosby and landed on a rocky shore below the cliff
  • Teams from the San Francisco Fire Department, United States Park Police and National Park Rangers coordinated with a CHP H30 helicopter for the operation
  • A helmeted rescuer was lowered to stabilize the victim before the helicopter flew them to safety
  • Emergency medics evaluated the hiker in an SFFD ambulance and confirmed only minor injuries that did not require hospital care
  • This marks the second cliffside incident at the same location within 48 hours, raising fresh concerns about trail safety in the Presidio
