Second Armed Robbery Reported at UH Student Center TDECU Branch in Less Than Three Months

UHPD coordinates with the FBI after the branch's temporary closure.

Overview

  • A man robbed the TDECU location inside UH Student Center South at about 4:08 p.m. on Wednesday, and no injuries were reported.
  • The suspect was described as a Black male about six feet tall with a slender build, wearing all black with a black scarf and grey sports sandals, carrying a black backpack with grey stripes, and wielding a black handgun.
  • He was last seen running south toward the METRO platform at MLK Boulevard and Wheeler Avenue, according to the university alert.
  • This is the second gunpoint robbery at the same branch since late October, with the FBI previously releasing surveillance photos and offering up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest in the earlier case.
  • TDECU said member and employee safety is its top priority and temporarily closed the location, while students voiced unease and called for a stronger police presence as campus safety upgrades continue.
