Overview
- Two thirds of seats will be bookable in fixed online time windows, with one third kept for spontaneous visitors, locals, and holders of Sommercard or Gardena Card.
- The change targets heavy congestion that has seen up to about 4,000 people gather at the valley station on peak days, especially around mid-morning and early afternoon.
- Seceda AG plans to double lower-section capacity from 1,200 to 2,400 people per hour and raise throughput from the middle station from 800 to 2,400 people per hour.
- A satellite parking area about one kilometer from the valley station is planned with 500 car and 25 bus spaces, linked by electric shuttle to ease traffic in Ortisei.
- The package is being advanced by a regional working group and still requires provincial approval, and operators expect a transition period before the system runs smoothly.
