SEC Enforcement Director Gurbir Grewal to Depart

Grewal, who led a major crackdown on Wall Street and crypto firms, will leave the SEC on October 11.

Gurbir Grewal has been the SEC's enforcement director since July 2021, overseeing a 1,500-person unit.
During his tenure, the SEC pursued significant cases against major cryptocurrency exchanges like Binance and Coinbase.
Grewal's leadership saw the SEC levy over $2 billion in fines against Wall Street firms for using unauthorized communication channels.
He also led actions against high-profile figures such as Elon Musk and Carl Icahn for various compliance failures.
Deputy Director Sanjay Wadhwa will take over as acting director following Grewal's departure.
