SEC Championship to Remain in Atlanta Until at Least 2031
New contract extension includes an option for the SEC to extend the arrangement until 2036.
- The Southeastern Conference (SEC) championship game will continue to be held at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta until at least 2031, following a contract extension.
- The previous contract was due to expire after the 2026 game, but the new agreement also includes an option for the SEC to extend the arrangement for an additional five years, potentially keeping the game in Atlanta until 2036.
- Atlanta has been the host city for the SEC championship since 1994, with the games initially held at the Georgia Dome until it was replaced by the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2017.
- The Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which is also home to the NFL's Atlanta Falcons and Major League Soccer's Atlanta United, hosts several college football games each year, including the Peach Bowl and the Celebration Bowl for historically Black colleges.
- The stadium is also set to host the national championship game for the second time in 2025 and games at soccer's World Cup in 2026.
