Seattle Light Rail Shooting Leaves One Dead, Suspect on the Loose

A 26-year-old man was killed in a shooting on a light rail train in downtown Seattle, with the suspect still at large.
The incident occurred late Sunday night as the train traveled between the Pioneer Square and University Street stations.
Sound Transit has committed to increasing visible security following the shooting, with plans to hire up to 300 guards through 2023-2026.
So far this year, Sound Transit has received 105 assault reports, a higher rate than in previous years, including verbal and physical assaults on transit operators.
