Search Resumes for Missing Girl in Thames after Gravesend Boy Rescue

Overview

  • At around 1:35 pm on May 30, two 9-year-olds fell into the River Thames near Royal Terrace Pier in Gravesend after entering the water.
  • Kent Police’s marine unit, HM Coastguard, the RNLI, Metropolitan Police vessels, a coastguard helicopter and South East Coast Ambulance Service led the rescue operation.
  • One boy was retrieved from the river and taken to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment.
  • Searches for the missing girl resumed on May 31, concentrated under a cordon at Commercial Place, The Terrace and Milton Place.
  • Warning signs along the promenade warn of strong currents and deep mud, prompting authorities to keep the area secured.
