Search Resumes at First Light for Six Missing in San Diego Plane Crash

Debris located in 200-foot-deep water west of Point Loma will guide today’s resumed efforts.

Overview

  • A twin-engine Cessna 414 crashed at 12:45 p.m. Sunday about three miles west of Point Loma.
  • No survivors had been found as of 11:30 p.m. and authorities have not yet released the names of the six missing.
  • U.S. Coast Guard, Customs & Border Protection, Harbor Police and Lifeguard crews will renew search efforts at first light Monday.
  • A debris field discovered in water about 200 feet deep is guiding today’s recovery operations.
  • The National Transportation Safety Board has launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.
