Overview
- A three-member search committee chaired by retired Justice Pramod Kohli and including Lt Gen (retd) Vishnukant Chaturvedi and Suresh Haware is screening thousands of applicants and will forward a shortlist of three names to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust for final selection.
- The committee has reviewed an applicant pool reported to exceed 5,500 people and is using eligibility filters and virtual and in-person interactions to reduce candidates to the recommended three.
- The Trust will decide the CEO’s remit and has said the post will oversee day-to-day administration and financial matters while reporting to the Trust general secretary.
- Reported eligibility rules require candidates to be Indian citizens aged roughly 50–70 with at least 20 years of administrative experience, fluency in Hindi and English, and willingness to reside in Ayodhya.
- The selection process will include further interviews and an Ayodhya visit and is expected to conclude with a final appointment around mid-August as the Trust seeks to restore governance after senior resignations and arrests tied to the donation probe.
