Search Intensifies for Missing Tourists in Kamchatka and Krasnoyarsk

A larger combined search-and-investigation is now underway across both regions.

  • In Kamchatka, six tourists who drove to the Akvarium area on October 3 failed to return by October 5 and have not made contact.
  • Minister Sergey Lebedev said an eight-person detachment with four vehicles, two ATVs and one unmanned aircraft has been deployed despite heavy wet snow reported in the area.
  • In Krasnoyarsk Krai, ground teams have covered 129 square kilometers of taiga and 96 kilometers of forest roads, with aerial surveys totaling 101 square kilometers using a light aircraft and a paramotor.
  • The Krasnoyarsk search force has expanded to 356 people and 47 units of equipment, including an FSIN canine team, emergency services, police and volunteers, with checks of nearby hunting huts coordinated with the natural resources ministry.
  • Investigators opened a criminal case into the Usoltsev family's disappearance, reported finding no camping gear in their car and that they wore light clothing, and law enforcement said a drone recorded two bears in the possible area.
