Overview

• Darius Macdougall, 5, disappeared Sunday during a walk near Island Lake Campground south of Crowsnest Pass.
• Roughly 100 trained searchers from Alberta and B.C., supported by drones, helicopters, dogs and thermal imaging, are conducting day-and-night sweeps across forests and waterways.
• Crews have closed the campground entrance, rotated teams through the area, and used lights and sirens at night to try to draw the child toward roads.
• RCMP say the autistic boy may not respond to his name, report no sign of foul play so far, and ask the public to send tips but avoid the search zone.
• Search leaders say consultations with Canadian Armed Forces on useful assets are ongoing, and physicians advising the effort support operating on the assumption the boy is alive.
